Takeout update…

Don’t forget we’re open for takeout from 3pm today.

For the current beer list see here.

Although the sun is not on message, we have a new Sesion IPA from Tapestry Brewery that is perfect for the summer, Singball at 4.8%. This one is unfine and murky and looks like a glass of fruit juice, but tastes great, if fuity is you thing!

SWINGBALL IS THE FUNLOVER.

It doesn’t take itself too seriously. The life and soul of any party, a night out or just an quick one (or two) after work isn’t the same without it. Mosaic, Citra and a cheeky splash of El Dorado hops give a real tropical punch to this sociable, sessionable brew. Tapestry Swingball is Summer all year round. So BBQ in the rain. Wear shorts in winter. Take a swing at this match-winner.

New for Takeout…

A couple of new ciders and a new Classic Bitter, fresh on for tday’s takeout:

Dorset Nectar

Old Harry Rock’s Vintage

6%

A vintage dry cider. A scrumptious alchemy that celebrates Dorset’s Jurassic coast. 2015 & 2017 British Organic Cider Cup Winner

Lilly’s Cider

Cherries & Berries

4.0%

Sumerset cider bursting with scrumtiousness. Crafted with the most sublime cherries & berries, this moth-watering cider is sweet with a soft underlying berry flavour and bold cherry notes. Lightly sparkled.

Thornbridge

Lord Marples

Classic Bitter 4.0%

Named after the aspiring Marples of Thornbridge Hall, this classic British bitter tastes of honey and caramel. A surprising smoothness is met with a long bitter finish.

Next steps…

Following the government’s announcement this week, we have thought long and hard and have made the decision that although we can open from the 4th July, we will not be opening. We would love to open The Engine Room as soon as possible but sadly at this time, we don’t believe it’s the correct decision.

We’re sure our customers will appreciate the style and cosiness of our venue makes it difficult for social distancing and having read the COVID secure guidance released from the government we haven’t had the time or ability to implement the instructions prior to the 4th July. At the moment we feel that the sensible decision will be to remain closed so that we can keep ourselves, our staff and our customers safe during this time.

For now, we will continue with the takeout opening on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons. We have been delivering our products to our customers and we’d love to thank all of our amazing customers who have ordered from us since the lockdown began. We can’t thank you enough for the support you’ve given as we know this has been a really difficult time for so many. We are going to be taking a break from the delivery with Saturday 27th June as the last day. We may return with the deliveries but there is a lot for us to think about at the moment and we need to seriously think and plan for the future of The Engine Room which we recognise many other pubs are doing as well.

We apologise that we can’t open from the 4th July, we’re hoping to be open in August. Thank you and look after yourselves.

Love from John, Lisa, David and the team
